When Karen is not reading, writing or taking pictures, she enjoys a cross-country skiing, gardening, hiking, kayaking, world travel, her husband’s cooking, family, dogs, and friends. She lives near Stillwater, MN on the St. Croix River.

Karen has been writing short stories since 2003. She’s written several adult and children/young adult short stories and completed four middle grade fiction manuscripts which she is revising. She received Honorable Mention in the Children’s Fiction category three times in the annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition. Karen is a member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) and volunteers at the MN SCBWI fall conference.
